During the past couple of weeks, Lexus has been teasing a new concept car to be unveiled at the upcoming 2012 Detroit Auto Show, drip-feeding us images revealing the new concept’s headlight design and cockpit.

But thanks to a video leak by Road & Track, and picked up by Autoblog.com, the concept has now been fully unmasked. The video has since been removed though not before we scooped up this image of the stunning concept.

Lexus released another teaser photo today showing a top view of its new concept car. (Photo: Lexus) Labeled the LF-Lc, the concept car previews the direction of Lexus design and incorporates the aggressively styled grille that debuted on the 2013 Lexus GS 350. The overall shape of the car closely resembles the lines of the 2012 Lexus LFA supercar, but we think it could be a preview of a new high-end coupe being considered by Toyota’s premium division.

Such a model may prove vital for Lexus as it would serve not only as a replacement for the SC 430 but as a competitor for such high-end luxury coupes as the BMW 6-Series and Mercedes-Benz SL-Class. Lexus certainly has room in its lineup for such a vehicle; pricing for the range-topping LS 600h L maxes out at less than $120,000 and then there's nothing until you get to the astronomically priced LFA at around $375,000.

One way Lexus could differentiate its coupe would be through hybrid technology, which the LF-Lc will be packing.

The concept car, penned by the artists at the Lexus’ Calty studio in Newport Beach, Calif., will be revealed in full on Jan. 9, 2012 in Detroit.
